The Ink Collective
We are a group of printmakers from North London, working in our own studios most of the time but joining together once a week in a Hampstead workshop, where we share ideas, experiment, work together and never gossip.
Every printmaker has a unique way of making work, inventing and combining techniques, using obscure tools and huge printing presses, or no press at all. In this bijou show of our different styles, you will see one-off monotypes, editioned etchings and linocuts, collage and photo etching, photopolymer etching, embossing, chine colle.
Making a printing plate can be long and intricate, frustrating and very technical. You are working back to front, sometimes dark to light, and a session in the studio can feel like mental gymnastics. The moment of reveal, when you pull your first print, is always exciting!
